At Legenda, students can study for and complete international degrees and diploma programmes from UK without going abroad. Alternatively, students can also opt to transfer to universities in Australia and UK for a year or two to complete their degree studies.

A) CIVIL ENGINEERING

This programme will develop the skills and knowledge needed to gain employment in Civil Engineering related industries where the application of analytical, industrial laboratory and/or fieldwork skills is required.
  
Upon completion of this qualification the student will have fulfilled the academic requirements for registration as an engineering technician
. This programme also serves as an entrance requirement for degree studies in Civil Engineering.



i. Diploma in Civil Engineering

This programme will develop the skills and knowledge needed to gain employment in Civil Engineering related industries where the application of analytical, industrial laboratory and/or fieldwork skills is required.  Upon completion of this qualification the student will have fulfilled the academic requirements for registration as an engineering technician. This programme also serves as an entrance requirement for degree studies in Civil Engineering.

This programme has good employment prospect within and outside Malaysia. Generally graduates may either opt to further their studies at degree level or seek employment as engineer supervisors working for contractors, consulting engineer, architect or even local authority in management roles within the construction industry, property management and consultancy industries.

Students are also expected to participate in group projects as part of the common skills required for achieving the award.

ii. BTEC Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering

The Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC), UK

This programme is aimed at those who wish to enter civil engineering profession as an engineering technician or further pursue their studies at tertiary level. It develops many of the skills required by today’s industries. Students become not only technically competent but also proficient problem solvers and team workers. The subjects at the early stage of the programme give students grounding in engineering, science, and health and safety management.
The subjects become more specialized at later stages to allow students to gain skills necessary for the design and construction of civil engineering structures. Many of the civil engineering components take the form of integrated projects where teams of students participate in the schemes through inception feasibility studies and design.

iii. Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Civil Engineering

For hundreds of years, civil engineers have contributed to the health and welfare of society. Roman viaducts and roads, the Suez and Panama canals, the Eiffel tower, the Channel Tunnel and London Eye are just a few of the thousands of great civil engineering accomplishments. Whether it be in design, construction or management, civil engineers provide innovative and technical abilities that will ensure a projects success. Civil Engineering is a profession that makes a 'real' contribution to society.

Engineering has been taught at the University of East London for over 100 years. It has developed programmes that are current and will give you the opportunity to develop your understanding and skills. With a large proportion of laboratory and practical work, students will reinforce the theories and practices learnt in the classroom with 'hands on' experience. This programmes offer you the opportunity to study the fundamental knowledge and theories required by all Civil Engineers and apply these to the practical work environment.

Duration : 3 years, 6 semesters.
Assessment :
Varies from module to module but will include examinations, coursework, project work, laboratory reports, time constrained and open book assignments and tests on competence in practical sessions.

iv. Master of Science in Civil Engineering

In collaboration with University of East London, UK
Programme Outline
The general aim of the programme is to provide the opportunity for engineers to develop additional expertise to meet the demands of their profession. The programme intends to promote and engender a positive interest in current practice and through the dissertation an understanding of research methods. This is to encourage students to respond to changes and developments and allow them to contribute to future developments.

Programme Objectives
    • To provide a depth of knowledge and understanding of the most up to date practices and theories in Civil Engineering.
    • To introduce the student to practical techniques for analysing and solving problems which may arise in various Civil Engineering projects.
    • To encourage students to think critically about current theories and practices, and their development.
    • To demonstrate to the student the interdependency of different factors which contribute to the solution of a Civil Engineering problem.
    • To contribute to the development of the engineer as an important professional in society and the built environment.

    Programme Details

    Duration : 1.5 years, 3 semesters.
    Career Prospect :
    Structural Engineer, Highway and Transportation Engineer, Water Resource Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer and R & D Engineer etc.

    Master Programmes Entry Requirements
      • BEng(Hons) in Civil Engineering with a class 3,  or BSc(Hons) in Civil Engineering with class 2:2 or an appropriate and related subject, with an award classification typically of (2:1) but of no less than a lower second class honours (2:2).
      • A degree qualification of a standard equivalent to (1) obtained after a course of full-time study extending over a period of not less than three years in a recognised university outside the Malaysia.
      • Other equivalent qualifications or appropriate professional experience recognized by universities and based on the process of Assessment of Prior (Experiential) Learning (APL/APEL).
      • Other equivalent qualifications recognized by Malaysian Government.

        English Requirements
        Applicants will also be required to meet the University standard for competence in English language and will be expected to hold GCSE or equivalent grade C in English or a IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent.



        B) ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE


        Designed to cover additional financial topics, students are introduced to accounting records of group accounts, financial statement analysis and to further understand the various groups of accounting ratios groups used for interpretation of business performance and limitations of financial analysis.
        Understanding is also expected in aspects of legal nature of these forms, statutory framework governing these businesses and their major characteristics.




        i. Diploma in Accountancy

        Accountancy is about providing financial information to many different types of people: managers, investors, lenders, suppliers of goods & services, customers, and governmental agencies amongst many others. The complex nature of business & organisations demands a high level of skill in analysing and interpreting financial data, so that accountants are always in demand. Accountancy is of central importance to a business: a reflection of its crucial nature is that many of the senior managers in companies of all sizes started their career as accountants.

        ii. Diploma In Taxation


        The programme is aimed at training and upgrading taxation personnel to fulfill the manpower need of the country especially in view of the self assessment regime and the goods and service tax. It provides a strong foundation for student to embark on a career as a licensed fax agent.
        Upon completing the course, students will be more competent and knowledgeable in tax laws and are in position to provide consultancy services relating to Malaysian Tax System.

          3+0 in Collaboration with University of East London, UK
          The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Accounting & Finance gives students the opportunity to acquire the in–depth knowledge of Accounting & Finance and the range of skills they need to embark on a successful career in accounting or in the finance area, a professional qualification or postgraduate study. You do not need prior knowledge of accounting to join the programme: the first year provides a foundation in accounting and related subjects. In their third year, modules contain a large element of independent research & learning, and students undertake a research-based module where they investigate & report on a topic reflecting their own interests.

          Program Details
          Duration : 3 years, 6 semesters.
          Assessment:

          Assessment is based on a combination of coursework and examinations.
          Coursework may include case study analysis, essays, reports, skills portfolio, financial model construction and project presentations.
          Degree classifications are based on performance in the second and third level modules, with third level modules being more heavily weighted.

          C) ALLIED HEALTH & MEDICAL SCIENCES
          School leavers of today regard the Medical Sciences profession such as Nursing as one of the promising and rewarding careers. Nursing is a profession broadly defined, both as an art and a science. In today's challenging healthcare environment, a qualified nurse combines knowledge, skills, creativity and intuition to tent the sick, comfort the grieving and support the desolate.
          Nursing is a profession the focuses on caring, nurturing and educating within the healthcare system. Those who are willing to learn, posses leadership qualities and have the desire to care for and improve the qualitiy of life should consider pursuing the course in Nursing.


          i. Diploma in Nursing


          This programme equips students with the skills and knowledge in the areas of health, behavioural & the nursing sciences to prepare them to be qualified Nurses.
          The Diploma in Nursing offered is approved by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, Malaysian Qualifications Agency, Malaysian Nursing Board and recognised internationally by hospitals, clinics, other health organizations & institutions.

          Program Details
          Duration : 3 years, 9 semesters.
          Program Objective
          The aim of this programme is to provide a learning environment that ensures students to:
          • Provide adequate knowledge & concepts of caring in nursing practice,
          • Demonstrating competencies in communication & other generic & specific skills,
          • Demonstrating professional efficiencies as a practitioner,
          • Understanding & delivering the ethical & caring role to individual’s needs, and
          • Acclimatising contemporary, professional & scientific values in nursing practice.

          • Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent with a minimum of 5 credits including Mathematics, 1 Science subject and 3 others (and must pass in Bahasa Malysia and English).*

          International Students
            • In addition to above requirements
            • Pass International English Language Testing Services (IELTS) with minimum of 5.5 or Test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) with a minumum of 550.*

            D) ARCHITECTURE

            The programme provides students with essential contemporary theoretical and practical knowledge, skills and techniques required for design documentation of buildings and administration of building construction.

            Throughout the programme, students will be constantly involved in design projects, ranging from open-ended architectural speculation to the preparation of production information drawings.

            Subjects in architectural technology, legal, contractual and management issues of architectural practice are also covered.

            The programme provides student with the essential contemporary theoretical and practical knowledge, skills & techniques required for the design documentation of buildings and the administration of building construction.

            Through the programme student will constantly be involved in design projects, ranging from open-ended architectural specification to the preparation of production information drawings. It also features a number of subjects in architectural technology, legal, contractual and management issue of architectural practice.

            This programme also provides a sound basis for advancement for studies at degree level and a range of design-related careers such as industrial design, interior design and landscape design. Graduates can seek employment mainly in private architectural and construction firms.

            3+0 in collaboration with Coventry University, UK
            This programme is designed for those who wish to obtain knowledge and skills in Architectural Design Technology.

            You will undertake design presentations, construction detailing, material selection, contract and statutory negotiations, Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications, project management, site inspections and quality control. This programme will prepare you to develop a career in design and architectural practices, based in local government, property development, building contracting, housing associations and a wide range of commercial development companies.


            Programme Details
            Duration : 2 years, 6 semesters.
            Assessment : 

            • Principal teaching and learning methods used to enable outcomes to be achieved are lectures, tutorials, seminars, site visits, CAD and drawing classes, laboratory classes, design projects, problem based learning, field courses, group and individual problem solving exercises and projects, interdisciplinary integrated project involvement including design drawing and modelling.
            • Principal assessment methods used to enable outcomes to be demonstrated are laboratory reports, written examinations, essays, case study analysis, design and construction exercises, laboratory exercises, individual and group projects, verbal presentations and reports.

            This programme is designed to equip students with to manage the unpredictable changes in today’s business environment. This programme includes an industry placement/project which provides students with first-hand working experience in a business environment.

            The programme aims to provide students with an effective business education, which equips them with the analytical, conceptual & practical skills, deemed necessary by the business community. It also equips students with the knowledge and understanding of the essential of the dimensions of business activities and empowers them with the ability to apply business concepts & analytical techniques to a range of business problems, be it locally or abroad.


            i. Foundation Studies in Business


            This programme offers a comprehensive and structured knowledge of business management fundamentals. It provides the necessary foundation for students who either want to embark on the entry-level careers in the business world or pursue tertiary studies.
            The programme is deal for students who wish to understand the various aspects of business and how these are inter-related.

                  All international students from a country in which English is not used as the medium of instruction in formal education are required to meet the following English language requirements:
                  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): minimum score of 550 (PBT) or 213 (CBT) or 79 - 80 (iBT)
                  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): minimum overall Band 6.
                  • Malaysian University English Test (MUET) : minimum Band 6.

                  v. Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering (Control Systems)

                  Programme Outline
                  The general aim of the programme is to enable engineers to develop specialist expertise in control systems simulation and modelling to meet the increasing demands of their profession. The programme intends to promote and engender a positive interest in current practice and through the dissertation an understanding of research methods. This is to encourage students to respond to changes and developments and allow them to contribute to future innovations.

                  • Exercise appropriate engineering judgement in decision making processes;
                  • Systematically analyse engineering, software and other related problems;
                  • Design and implement effective solutions;
                  • Enhance the level of knowledge and understanding regarding computer systems, information technology and relevant engineering applications;
                  • Plan and implement a major engineering and/or IT related project,
                  • Write a critical evaluation report and defend the conclusions and work undertaken.
                  • Demonstrate an ability to study independently and effectively and to be able to convey technical information to others.

                  vi. Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering (Integrated Systems)

                  In collaboration with University of East London, UK 
                  Programme Outline
                  The general aim of the programme is to enable engineers to develop specialist expertise in the design and development of integrated and distributed systems by combining a number of smaller digital sub-systems into a larger and more powerful computer based   system. The programme is designed to promote and engender a positive interest in current and future technologies and stimulate the development of a systems approach using software applications, artificial intelligence, computer communications and ASIC/ VLSI design methodologies. This will encourage and enthuse students to respond to developments in sub-systems design and integration through their studies and dissertation and allow them to contribute to future substantial engineering projects.

                    vii. Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering (Software Systems)

                    In collaboration with University of East London, UK 
                    Programme Outline
                    The general aim of the programme is to enable engineers to develop specialist expertise in the design and development of high integrity software suitable for the specification of critical systems. This will involve a comprehensive understanding of formal model-based development methods and the application of mathematical reasoning to interrogate a formal specification. The design and development of large heterogeneous software systems will be explored which will involve reliability and performance features of concurrency and distributed systems, and the management of software development projects. Concepts of artificial intelligence and mathematical modelling in the support and development of software systems will also be analysed. The programme is designed for students to develop a comprehensive systems software approach for applications which will provide an important contribution to the needs of the computer software industry.

                          The general aim of the programme is to provide the opportunity for graduate scientists/engineers and computer scientists to develop expertise to meet the increasing demands of the new technologies in mobile communications and networks. The programme intends to promote and engender a positive interest in current practice and through the dissertation an understanding of research methods. This is to encourage students to respond to changes and developments and allow them to contribute to future developments.

                          Programme Objectives
                            • Understand, apply and extend your subject expertise in mobile communications and networks in a range of engineering and technology based applications;
                            • Exercise appropriate engineering judgement in decision making processes;
                            • Systematically analyse a range of communication, networks, radio frequency and microwave engineering related problems;
                            • Design and implement effective solutions;
                            • Enhance the level of knowledge and understanding regarding communication       systems networks and their relevance in a range of engineering and communication applications;
